Honda Locking factory gas cap-dealership parts guy said they do not offer them-WTH

I went to my local dealer, Honda of Decatur, Alabama, and asked for a factory Honda locking gas cap for my E and was told that Honda does not offer one. When I stated that I had seen them on the internet, he said that they were not made by Honda of America. Does anyone have the part number for the locking gas cap?

H and A has it...look 2/3 of the way down the page. http://www.handa-accessories.com/elementext.html
The part number for the locking cap is 17680-SAA-G00.

Your parts guy likely looked in the 2008 accessory guide and didn't see one so he told you Honda didn't make one. He was partially correct. Starting in 2006 Honda went with a tethered cap on the E and stopped listing the locking cap after 2005. Had he looked in an older accessory guide he would have found the locking cap.
Thanks for the information.
Last summer (when gas prices were ridiculous) I ask my local dealer for a locking gas cap.
Same answer as you got.
I bet the parts guy a free oil change & car wash I could come in with a genuwine Honda part and part number.
He poked around on his parts computer for a few more minutes, went back to talk to the dept. supervisor, and then took the bet.

Went home, ordered one from H&A, and went back in the next week.

Went home with fresh oil (synthetic, too!) and a freshly washed car... :D
I've got one that came installed in my SC when I bought it last fall.. I took it off right away, because I don't want ANOTHER key on my ring, and I'm not worried about syphoning here. If anyone is interested, I can sell it. Offers?
siphoning gas is the least of the activity you should worry about .. jealous Scion XB owners might put liquid other than gas in your tank ... ;-) saw it in a movie once , not pretty ;-)
ugh. Since debadging yesterday, my roomie keeps calling it a scion. Admittedly, a couple years ago I wanted one... but they're just too damn small. (I'm 6'6.. extra room is a definate plus)
... siphoning is so '90s. Now they just punch a hole in the tank and drain the gas out into a bucket, locking gas cap or no locking gas cap.
I actually just bought a locking gas cap from Advanced Auto before I even realized that Honda made one. It was only $15 and it works perfectly.
Aww, Cmiddl01, what a sweetie, I just cast my vote for her. we have 3 sheps and a mixbrreed here... very sweet.
with the new plastic gas tanks , an enterprising thief can place a tap in it and revisit the fuel tank night after night ... just thinking about it , if they need the $5 in gas that bad , I should just leave a red gas can full beside my E and be done with it ... LOL ;-)

Thanks so much! She is a sweetie and I would do anything for her, including buying the E and trading in my 2 dr accord :)

Thanks for voting!
Re-key gas cap

There was a thread about getting the gas cap re-keyed to your ignition key. When I bought my locking gas cap from my dealer, I asked about it and they did it. Voila = no need for an extra key! They did give me an extra one also.
