My recent trip to the dealer did not yield much info here. (A salesman with a blank look who just moved the front seat forward). I have an item that is 65" long that I need to haul (a telescope) and was wondering could someone explain the front seat folding -- is it a flip up kind of mechanism?

(Basically, on one side of the E, I'll likely have to remove the back seat on that side and fold the front seat up to make this beast fit).

Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, the front seat will fold flat, but nothing more. Only the back seats fold up against the side of the E.

The front seat just leans and slides forward like the front seat of a coupe, which allows the back seaat passenger to enter and exit through the front door.

With the front seat slid all the way back there is 65" from tail gate to back of the front seat. If you slide the front seat forward you can get another ~8" or so. If it is to large in diameter to fit under the rear seat pass-through, simply fold the rear seat up and out of the way. Basically a 30 second procedure to fold up the rear seat, then toss the 'scope in! Of course if you put it in at angle you probably have another 6-10" of room lenghtwise.

The other option is to fold the rear seatback flat and fold the front passenger seatback flat (this is the so called "bed" configuration) and place the telescope on top of the seats. This configuration gives you about 96"
