OK guys i read through the posts here on how to wire up an aftermarket HU, but now im confused. I'm trying to figure out what parts (Harness) i will need. I thought i would need Metra 70-1721 and AOEM-HON20 OR could go with Scosche SLC4 loc And METRA 70-1725 but i cant figure out witch would best for sound. I will be installing F700bt and keeping the factory amp and speakers. Thanks

Try to PM Nismogriff about this. He's a good source for this type of question.:)
Any Metra

I bought the 1721 and it works good.

But saw the 1725 May swap up to that one. (Good Find.)

With the 1721 you need to make the phono connections.

After that just follow the threads.
with the pac aoem-hon20 you wont need the metra harness. it is already terminated to plug into the factory harness behind the radio. you can just eliminate the plug that goes into the factory radio as you are installing an aftermarket and hook you pioneer harness up in its place.
ok so how do i hook up the f700bt harness to the AOEM-HON20? Do i need any other harnesses?
nope that one will do. again, it is designed to either add an amp to the factory radio or ad a radio to the factory amp so you can either cut the factory radio plug off on the pas harness that plugs into the factory radio, or you can keep it all in tact and add the metra 70-1721 to it, totally up to you.
oh ok so i still need to get a harness to still go between the avic's harness to the AOEM-HON20 to power the avic . I guess i was trying to have as few parts in the mix. What i dont understand is that with AOEM-HON20 is how is the sound outputted to the factory amp cause i see the output of the AOEM-HON20 has rca and not a harness type connect.

I personally don't see the need to spend the money on the PAC piece when installing the Pioneer head unit. Using the Metra 70-1725 and adapting a plug for sub input gave me plenty of volume with a very linear control. Use what you feel comfortable with, but I don't see the need.

Man.....I haven't heard 'em called "phono" connections in YEARS!! ;-)
So what would be the best options for hooking this thing up to the factory system? I understand the sub-woofer portion but whether to use just the 70-1725 by itself or buy the AOEM-HON20. The AOEM-HON20 still seem confusing as to how the hu gets it power and what the rcas on that unit plugs into( HU im guess) i read the pdf for it and still cant tell if i will need just that or an additional harness. Im sorry if im turning this thread into a mess.

Like I said in my post....I simply used the 70-1725 and a cut of end of an RCA plug and it works flawlessly. No low volume, no hiss, no crackle, no bull****.
Don't forget, you'll also have to connect the brake wire unless you go to
www.avic411.com and check out the installation hints tricks and such...
Ok so im ordering the 70-1725 and a scosche dash kit. Thanks to everyone for answering all of my questions, i really love these forum :)
oh also is the Metra 40-hd10 the correct antenna adapter cause i notice it say 05 and up and i have an 03ex.

You don't need an antenna adapter.
NismoGriff, i thought i would need that adapter to install f700bt?
i figured it out. The 03-04 doesn't need the adapter since it doesn't have the XM option which required the adapter. Can you guys chime in on what dash kit is the best to install my f700bt Scosche, Metra or American International?

I used the factory brackets and slotted a couple of the holes ever so slightly to change the angle, then I used a double din trim ring from a Metra kit for a Odyssey. I can't honestly remember why I decided to do this, but I know that I ordered the parts specifically to do it that way.
i mounted mine with factory brackets and duraglassed the factory radio trim to fill the rest of the area in but for those less versed in custom fabrication stuff i would go with the Schosche one. Metra doesnt currently make a double din kit for the element. If you guys would like to see them make one then go to my other thread and tell me so so that i can relay it to the guys there in R&D i know. I have told them repeatedly but they arent gonna make if if just one guy says they need one. :)
