This is driving me nuts. I understand EX with side airbags and manual tranny is now available for order...I'm trying to work a deal and my local dealer says he can't give me a price b/c he has no price. DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE INVOICE PRICE FROM HONDA ON EX AWD MT / SIDE AIRBAGS (EXS MT AWD)?

Assuming MT is ~ $740 less than AT (as it is in EX 2wd), and side airbag option is $250 more on CR-V...seems to be a logical direction...for a net invoice of the EXS MT being ~ $490 less than AT invoice, which would put the EXS AWD MT: $19,232 INVOICE PRICE. Does this make sense based on published figures below? Thanks, everyone!

2003 Element 4WD EX
Manual - May 2003
Automatic - Retail $21,310 (invoice $19,722.04)

That is a fairly accurate prediction. Honda has charged the same for all models so far, $250, for side airbags. That should also be pretty accurate for the difference in transmissions, but not set in stone. The Honda Accord EXV6 6spd for instance is the same exact price as the auto. Not saying this will be true for the Element, but we don't know yet. As for negotiations on something already in higher demand than supply, good luck  Being armed with accurate (or close to it) information is a great idea, but won't necessarily help you out. I would say that your best bet is to get a dealer to commit to a price as soon as possible, before everyone realizes they are only getting a limited number of 5spd 4WD's and the deman is high.

BTW, nice lineup of currently owned vehicles, until I got to the buick. Good luck.

I had the same problem at the end of last month. My wife wants a SOP EX 4wd 5spd. We tried one local dealer and got the same story you did. Another dealer, a little distance away, said sure. $19,110. It was a young salesguy so I argued with him for a bit. "No, that's too low" I said. After a bit of that I shut up and we went home. I stewed about it for a while longer and called dealer 1 (who I liked better). "Yow", said he. "That's likely to be less than $200 over invoice. We can't touch that. You better buy it from him if they are serious".

So we called dealer 2 up and said we were coming back (it was near closing on a Saturday). We had two choices, $500 refundable and a wait list, or $500 down and a buyers contract. They pushed hard for the contract. "OK", we said. So we are first on the list for a SOP EX 4wd 5spd at $19,110 (which (coincidently??)) is exactly the MSRP for the 2wd version of the same thing).

I wanted airbags but dared not try to get a price including that. So we'll do without. (I have since offered to pay $250 additional if the car comes in with them).

We are excited - hope they hurry up and start building them.

Hey, Supes, thanks for the feed. You're not getting the Buick thing, though! Go to my site and you will understand why I have it. Thus far, it has brought me quite a bit of luck...landed me on national TV last summer. ;)

Pete, you are in luck. Wow, great deal. :D

Thanks again, guys!
