I just purchased a Eclipse EA3422 4 x 50 watt amp brand new off Ebay and I realized something after the fact, my head unit has 8 volt preouts and according to the specs of this amp, it has an (input sensitivity preout)of .2-5 volts and also (input sensitivity amp out) of .4-10 volts. Which set of numbers should I be concerned with for the outputs on my deck. if it is the .2-5 volts will i have a problem with distortion or something with the 8 v outputs on my Eclipse HU.

Also for anyone looking for a decent small amp that puts out 50 watts x 4 at 4 ohms with .004 thd. It is a small 10.82 x 10.82 x 1.97 h and should fit under the seat pretty well. I will put up some pics when I get it installed that is if I get it installed depending on the result of what happens, question above.

Yeah, I wish I went with the PA series amp because of this, but thats what I get for overlooking specs and the size of this amp sold me. Anyway thanks for the input on this EMass. Hopefully I get it by Friday so I can install it over the weekend.

Yeah reading that info on that web page, It seems like that amp will be a little sensitive to the 8v outputs, meaning that if I have the gain turned all the way to 5v on the amp the volume will be blairing with just a few clicks of the NOB. Hopefully I'll be ok. If not there will be a EA3422 on Ebay real fast lol. Now I know why the sub sounds like poop when the n-fade vol is higher than 5 and it goes all the way up to 16. That little stock amp probably has a 2 v input if it's lucky.

[quote:41b3abdefd="eMass"]BTW - here's an article on everything you ever wanted to know about head unit pre-out voltage as it relates to amp gains. It even has wattage/voltage calculators and diagrams, etc. etc. Check it out...
