Has anyone had any experience with Kenwood speakers in their E?

I'm interested in the 1680ie and the 1682ie, hooking them up to my factory HU, are they any good? Or should I stay away from Kenwood products alltogether?

Thanks!

There really is no "bad brand" and if there was, Kenwood would not be it. SOme of their stuff may be cheap, but it's not junk. I've run a few Kenwood speakers, a Deck, and even subwoofers, no amps yet though. All sounded remarkably well for the cheap price.

At that price point, I really wouldn't expect too overly impressive of a sound. If you could spend a little more and find a Hertz dealer in your area the Dieci speakers sound PHENOMENAL off radio power.

At the pricepoint of the speakers you listed I would expect a marginal improvement in sound over the factory 2way setup.

Alright, because I've heard that Kenwood HUs are pretty bad, along with their subpar speakers. But after listening to them in at Best Buy, I must say, at least they sound better than Sony

The only thing Sony makes decently anymore is TV's and everyone knows that's all you should buy from them, and even then, avoid the TV's if you have a choice. There's a reason why Sony stuff is sold in WalMart's auto department. It's cheap junk. Kenwood's HU's sound just fine. People will always assume whatever they own sounds really good, but once they buy something else, they'll tell you that that is better. But I will say Kenwood stuff sounds just fine, so does JVC, and even *gasp* Dual.

Sony had a mid line xplod subwoofer that wasn't "bad".. At a previous shop I worked at we installed quite a few of them in a bass package format with a sony amp, and the results usually weren't bad..

I have never heard a sony speaker that I really liked the sound of though...

And, the good thing about the Hertz speakers is the same engineering team that voices their $3k set of component speakers also voices the entry level $99 pair of speakers... (Plus a 3 year warranty..)

But did you ever talk to those people about a month later? Every "1300" watt XPLOD woofer I ever had blew or just stopped working for no reason. And they sound ok for a while, but even replacing them with another $100 subwoofer sounds so much better. I went through 5 or 6 of those XPLOD woofers before I realized I wasn't dooing anything wrong, as I tried different amps, better compnents/wires etc. also 3 of them were the 10" thin mount version that BEst Buy sold for $170. I took it back to best buy twice and the third time the receipt was up, and I couldn't get it replaced.

We would have seen them come back. And I handled the returns at the store, so I would have know. I think I only sent back one or two of the woofers out of a LOT of sets we sold... (They were the red coned P5 woofers..)
