I recently purchased a 2003 Honda element. One of the issue with the E is that the door locks hardly work. Also where i am located is gets old and makes them worst. after doing some research I did find out that this is a common issue. I was looking into getting Keyless entry to make everything thing easier. after looking under drivers dash for green plug for keyless box. I found one already there. i was wonder if it is possible to reprogram it to a different key fob. I have a old one from my 98' honda accord and i was wondering if i could just use that one. if so how do you reprogram it.

The remote from a '98 Accord will not work. You'll need remote FCC# OUCG8D-344H-A, Honda part# 72147-S5t-A01.
This remote works for 03-11 Element and also for 02-05 Civic. The shape is exacltly the same as the '98 Accord, but for the Element it comes with 3 buttons, lock, unlock and panic.

It's onboard programming, so you'll not need any scanner or scan tool...enjoy your E!!!

Note:
Entering the programming mode cancels all learned keyless remotes, so none of the previously programmed remotes will work. You must reprogram all of the keyless remotes once you are in the programming mode.
You must complete each step within 5 seconds of the previous step to keep the system from exiting the programming mode.
1. Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
2. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on one of the remotes. (An unprogrammed remote can be used for this step.)
3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK (0)
4. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 two more times using the same keyless remote used in step 2
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II)
6. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button the same remote. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm you are in programming mode.
7. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you want to program. Make sure door locks cycle after you push each remote button to confirm system has accepted the remote.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.
9. Test remote(s)

That part number will not work on 2003. It works on 2004 and up non LX models.

Keyless was a dealer option in 2003 and used a different remote.

08E61-S5D-1M001 is the correct rem9te for this year.

I do have a 2003 Element US model and I bought and returned 2 times remote 08E61-S5D-1M001
(FCC# NHVWB1U521) thinking it was bad because it was not programming. Then I found there is also avilable model OUCG8D-344H-A and it worked for me. Don't know for Canada models or other countries.
