Or hmmmm why didn't the engineers design the buttons so they don't lock in everyone's pocket! I guess you can look at it from either direction, is a solution that does not address the cause "smart"... to me, not up to what I have come to respect in my past Hondas from lawnmowers & snowblowers to generators, motorcycles and automobiles, a little weak, but liveable for sure...

I'm pretty sure your dealer can turn this feature off. I have an alarm and remote entry that was installed by the dealer (though it is not the Honda brand kit). I had the same problem, and they were able to turn the self-locking function off. Good luck!
