when I messed around with that stuff earlier ran into two things to check.
check the gray plastic bearings for breaks or need of grease. These are located up top in the top mounts.
Also My springs were sliding on the lower perch. There is a rubber part used on later models that can be added or maybe some soft pvc tubing over the bottom coil of the spring to keep it from moving...or I have heard over time they will stick, mine never did.
