One of my FOBs is not working. it just stopped working suddenly. the FOB was not dropped or exposed to any type of damaging substance:
when i press the button to lock/unlock the door of my 2003 E, the lock doesn't work. The LED button doesn't light, either. It's not the battery as I tried a new battery to no avail. Besides, the battery works in my wife's FOB (which is for the same car).
I tried putting a little paper towel inside the battery compartment to make sure the battery was hitting the contacts, and I also pressed the battery as hard as I could into the compartment while pressing the button. nothing.
finally, I tried cleaning the contact surfaces as well as comparing the insides of each battery compartment. both look identical.
any thoughts??
