Sitting in the car in the show room it just felt like I have to reach out for it.
And I am not a small guy, I am 6'1". But I guess my problem might be is that I have to push the seat all the way back. And that limites my reach with my arms because I have long legs.
I took delivery of my 5SPD EX on Jan.31. To me, the stick is in a perfect place because the motions you use to shift it feel very natural. It took me all of about one mile to adapt and took my wife who normally drives an auto Accord about 2 miles. So confident about anybody being able to use it that I'm going give my 12 year old daughter and 14 year old nephew some early parking lot driving lessons in it. Highly recommend the stick - takes full advantage of the engines flexibility.
[quote:9d605aca14="PaulyPaul"]I would like to hear from people that baught the Manual model.
How did you find the location of the shifter? was it easy/hard to reach out for it?[/quote:9d605aca14]
The stick shift on the ELEMENT is awesome. Not hard to reach for, smooth as glass. Very responsive. I test drove one yesterday and was just thrilled with it. It was the 2WD EX. I had planned to purchase the AWD EX with the manual transmission when is became available. From what I have heard on this list there will be no AWD EX with 5 speed shift. Honda has decided not to produce it for some STUPID reason. I had sold my Isuzu Trooper today and had planned to put the money down as soon as it became available. I even called all the Honda dealers to let me know when one arrived.
No chance of that now. I will probably go look elsewhere now. HONDA is OUT. It just doesn't make sense to me for a 4 cylinder engine not to have stick available if the customer wants it. It really helps with the power and control in AWD situations.
I know someone at work who has the AWD EX with an automatic and say it chugs uphill with four adults. I AM TOTALLY HEARTBROKEN. I just couldn't wait to get one.
