what is a stock amp in a 2008 sc 7 speaker system rated at? wts per speaker or total? 270?
Also I had a pro install the DD head unit and he hooked the sub as described in these threads but it doesnt sound as it did with the stock HU. when the car is running there is a slight buzzing noise only heard between songs or volume is turned down - seems to also to be present when you dim the dash lights ( clarion nx409) from right front speaker not the sub.

i want to install some speakers into the car BUT every manufacturer has different ideas
polk 5.25" db5251,or MM5251 yes , 6.5" no
pioneer 5.25" yes 6.5" yes (TS-D1720C or TS-D1320C)
JL AUDIO C2525X yes
all of the above from crutchfield say you need to cut out the cup in the door..

what is the depth of the rear door and front door without cutting the weather protector cup ?

You should be able to fit most 6.5" speakers in all 4 doors no problem.
I put the Polk db651s shallows in just to be safe, but I've heard that normal models fit with no problem. I did not have to cut anything in the door.

Read thru this thread:
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2516

The factory amp is rated at 270 peak watts total:
4 x 50 watts peak (about 18 RMS @ 4 Ohms stereo) for the door speakers
1 x 70 watts peak (about 40 RMS at 2 Ohms mono) for the dual voice coil subwoofer.

As for your sub output, try adjusting some of the settings on your new head unit. Without knowing more or seeing your install, it's hard to diagnose. If you only have "buzzing" come from one speaker, I'd guess it's either due to the connection behind your head unit where the installer tapped into the front right input or something in the amp for that specific channel.

Thanks for the reply
I went in today and they did diagnose it as a faulty rca plug so i was asked if I would want it set up as is OR set up how they wanted to . I said what ever the best sound would be for the least amount of time and $ .

They ran the speakers for the fronts off of the HU (Clarion nx409) ran the sub off of the factory amp and the rears off of the factory amp.. WHAT A HUGE difference in sound quality - they didnt charge me anything as they wanted to satisfy me with the original install. they also recommend the 6.5 Polk db651S in the front doors and polk tweets in the pillars as well and I will get those installed next week (120.00). So far im very happy with professionalism of this business ( http://www.soundsgoodauto.com ) in Vancouver BC Canada.
