Greetings, all. I'm joining the forums in anticipation of acquiring my first Element. I'm currently driving an '03 Subaru Legacy L SE sedan that has been diagnosed with a burnt valve, and the mechanic has said its not worth fixing, and the patient might not survive the surgery anyway. I've just moved to the far, far eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh after a fire at my old workplace in Fairmont, WV. So I've got a car that needs more in repairs than its worth in order to pass inspection and/or emissions.
Which brings us to now. Currently in the middle of saving up for a replacement car. Credit is crap, so it's been slow going. Meaning I've been forced to look at the low end of used car ads. Then I decided to reach out to Mr. Regular of Regular Car Reviews for advice. Given a use case of living most of its days on Routes 22 and 119, with a heaping helping of I-376, what would he recommend? Honda Element came back without hesitation.
I watched his video on the Element, and thought, "yeah, that's me." Further reaching out to the Element subreddit gave me a target of AWD and a manual. And they're out there. At prices even I may be able to pull off. I started a GoFundMe to try and get some help with a down payment. If I can't finance, it could be a very long time otherwise.
Anyway. The goals are set. AWD/MT Element. There's a candidate '06 in upstate NY for $4K I've got my sights on. This time I want to do better by this car than I have with the Subaru. If I hadn't skipped the 150K mile service when I had the chance, I might not be in the situation I am now.
But anyway, the car fund account is growing, there are Elements available, and it's only a matter of time now. SOON.
