My floor on the front passenger side dips sharply down to the door sill, as if whatever the pad is beneath it doesn;t go right to the edge. I discoverd this when the contents of a cup of coffe ran straight to teh sil and disappeared.

Is this a standard feature?

At least the coffee didn't go for the dash area. (Thats going to happen to someone soon just wait...) Putting some floor mats in isn't such a bad idea. Maybe a dash mounted wet-vac for emergencies.

...lap the rubber floor up round teh door sills, cup holder etc. Consult a bathroom flooring specialist if necessary...

I have seen people recommend running a bead of silicon sealant by the door frame to protect from spills and snow melts. This is definitely something I am thinking about as well as floor mats. I had an Isuzu years ago in which water would sop under the carpet even with floor mats. I am quite lucky the floor boards didn't rot out.

I went with the all season floor mats. They do take quite a bit of a beating. With all the snow we have been getting, (a lot for NYC) the floor mats take all the liquid I can dish out. (so to speak)

Same thing happened to me....

I got the Rubber All Season mats.... they look good, fit good, and were worth it.

As soon as I viewed the ELEMENT in the showroom, my intial thought was "I have to lay a bead of silicone all around the floor mats". Apparently the floor is completely sealed but how sealed can it really be if there is a gap? I don't see why I couldn't do that. I happen to look for things to silicone anyways...

I think Honda needs to put floor drains in next years model of the E. How cool would that be it drains out the bottom of the car while your driving or when you go to wash it out! :lol:

if you look from under the car there are rubber or plastic drain plugs. they are covered a little with undercoat spray.

I personally am glad they slant toward the door and not toward my subwoofer! :twisted:
