I know the first maintenance is at 10,000 miles. Do we have to do the check up or can we bypass it until the next light comes on? What's the pro's and con's?

Does the light come on every 40,000 miles after the intial 1st one?

It's a cost and time factor for me, i am always busy :D

My understanding is that the 10,000 check up is no big dealer....just a check your fluids kinda thang! But my salesman did say "You can always just come in and have the light reset"

I will be getting my 10,000 mile check-up done.....just to be on the safe side....I would hate for something minor to be wrong and me not do anything and then down the line it cost me big bucks!

Take the time, your E will thank you for it :lol:

The maintenance light will come on every 10K miles. I don't believe in going to the dealership for the "periodic maintenance checks" because:
a. They're expensive. If you look under your hood carefully, and see if anything looks amiss, you'll probably be doing as good as the dealer.
b. I do all of my own maintenace. If I feel the car needs to have the gearbox oil changed before 120k miles, then i will do it. I drive the car on a daily basis and can tell when something is getting weak.
c. Honda reliability. Honda has built a solid reputation on building very reliable products. I have never heard of anyone who took their car to the Honda dealer for the maintenance checks and actually find something getting ready to fail. Furthermore, taking your car for the checks will not typically prevent something from failing as long as reasonable maintenace is performed (i.e. regular oil changes, brake pad changes, etc).

The maintenance schedule, in short, is as follows,
5k==oil & filter
10K==oil & filter, rotate tires, clean, inspect& adjust brakes
15k==oil &filter & engine air filter
20K same as 10K
25k-same as 15k

now for the BIGGY------30k
oil & filter, rotate, clean and inspect brakes, change air filter, GO AHEAD & change transluid, no matter what they tell you about 60K, (trust me) and replace polen (a/c) filters

I think you are mistaken. The manual calls for the filter to be changed every other oil change.
