Here's the list of the 220 California State Parks that Gov Schwarzenenegger is proposing to close this summer due to the enormus State budget deficit.:-x

List of the Parks on the Chopping Block: http://forum.surfermag.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1603077&Main=1602981

None of California is spared - the list includes coastal parks from San Diego to the Oregon border and all of the Giant Redwood parks.
It goes further in land closing the 4 State Parks at Lake Tahoe - Sugar Pine Point, Emerald Bay, D.L. Bliss and Tahoe SRA.

Fortunately the up coming EOC Lake Tahoe Camping Jamboree ~ September 11 - 17 is not effected as a private campground is was selected for that event... phew!

All of the Big Sur parks are on the list as well as the state parks in the Sierra Nevadas and Mojave Basin.

Living in Benicia, seeing "benicia State rec area" I have been there and there's no rangers or groundskeepers there anyway, that place is turning into crap, just a bunch of dead grass and a cement path. What will closing it do to keep money?
