2003 E, 2wd, manual.

Installed Monroe part number 72136 and 72135 struts into the E, and found OEM tie rod ends to not fit. OEM "peg" seems to be too big for the Monroe strut hole.

Went and purchased MOOG part number ES80995 (that's the Carquest number), and am experiencing same issue- TRE does not fit in Monroe strut hole.

I tried heat, some emery paper, and still no fit. Defective struts? I've got a tech email to Monroe already submitted, but they're out of the office.

Anyone here ever experience this same issue? First post here- lots of good info. I tried a search on this imcompatability, but found nothing.

Thank you for any help that board members can offer.

Cheers,
snakedoc

Thanks, jsbagman.

I looked up the KYB's and found some very reasonably priced.

The response from Monroe's "Technical Support" was laughable. Not at all technical, and no support, either.

I'm happy to buy their competitor's product, and appreciate the heads up on the KYB product.

Cheers,
