I checked out the Element the other day; I actually went to get info on the Civic Coupe EX. Anyway, I had a little trouble with the doors -- yes, I felt stupid when my father showed me how to open them -- but I opened them and got in.

I loved it.

After a rough, 3 day thinking process -- it may not sound like much, but I've spent at least 75% of each day researching and comparing -- I finally decided that I wanted a Honda Element 4WD EX W/ Front Side Airbags as my first car!

I contacted the Ken Dixon Honda dealership about 15-20 minutes away from us in Waldorf earlier today through Honda USA's website. I got a response back that went as follows:

Dear Millard Watkins 4,

Thank you for your interest in the 2003 Honda Element listed on the Internet. To ensure you receive our most competitive price, I am checking your request against our available inventory.

I will contact you shortly to confirm the specifications, availability and price of this vehicle, and to make sure it is exactly what you want. If appropriate, we may review other items necessary for an efficient buying experience, including any trade-in, financing and insurance. I would also be happy to meet with you at your convenience to answer any questions, as well as provide the keys for a test drive.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached either by replying to this e-mail or by phone at 301 843-8700.

Thanks for your interest. I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Of course, I was ecstatic -- even though I didn't check my email until an hour ago (3am).
So, I did what the email said: don't hesitate to contact...

Well, you can read for yourself my situation.

Jim Tayman:

Thank you for the quick response!

As I stated in my request for a quote, this will be my first car. At the
moment, I have my Maryland Learner's Permit and will recieve my License in
early October -- I turn 16 on August 28th. I've taken it upon myself to
find out as much as I can about this vehicle and (somehow) pitch it to my
parents so that they cannot refuse.

Now, I'm not 100% on the policies of allowing permit holders to test drive a
car, but I wouldn't have a problem letting my father do the test drive for
me. We live about 15 to 20 minutes away from Waldorf, so setting up a
meeting time shouldn't be a big issue.

Also, my desired list of accessories is fluctuating -- not by much, but
somewhat. I hope it's not too much trouble if, at the time of our
hopefully-inevitable meeting, my list of desired accessories (exterior and
interior) has a few minor changes.

Thank you.

Please, feel free to ask me anything and give me advice and whatnot. (Especially on how it drives.)

And if you want to know, I'm 15 -- 16 next month -- and I'll be starting my Junior year in high school. I'd like to get it soon, especially so I can feel comfortable driving it to and from school; gotta get ready for that college experiance.

Oh, and not to mention: my parents (especially my father who drives a Jag) don't want me driving their car(s) -- my mom just got the new Mercedes E Class.
So that's just even more reasons why they should get me a car! :D
