Looks good... I too would like to know how you mounted it. How does the weight affect the hatch lifting/staying up?

I’m making one myself using a bike carrier swing and convert into a spare tire carrier it’s been done and looks so good and it works great

I used a CRV spare tire carrier and upgraded to stronger struts to hold the weight up with the gate open.

^ same question, I honestly didn't know there were struts that could hold that much weight. That would far simplify my plan to fabricate a front mount since I'm too cheap to pay for a swing away...

I'll have to look at the part number. My only complaint with the struts I wound up with is that they are like 2 inches too short. I tried I don't know how many pairs of struts til I found these and settled.

The tire doesn't block the plate or the lights. I made a cardboard template of the tire mounted to the carrier before I drilled any holes so I could get the placement correct.
