My Orange Chariot lives near the beach with all day ocean-mist air - salt! I live in the tropics, so salt from snow removal isn't an issue. Also, sand and dirt from windblasts is a constant problem.

I take good care of the wheel wells, underside and overall body with frequent rinsing, but what to do about paint protection? I've read a zillion posts about preferred waxes, but nothing mentions quality protection above what normal wax will do.

Some companies make marine-grade products, but it's my understanding paints for cars vs. boats is different, thus the marine products aren't suited for the E.

I'm looking at a couple products:

1) Collinite Fleetwax
http://www.autogeek.net/collinite-fleetwax-.html

2) Klasse High Gloss Sealant - for new cars or no oxidationon on the car - I probably have oxidation.

Does anybody have experience with the above or other recommendations?

I'm willing to comprimise the perfect shine in favor of protection - my baby has to last me a while.

Thanks to everyone for great postings and also thanks to the person pointing us to AutoGeek - that site helped me a lot!

Cheers :)

I have used Fleet wax on my boat for several years. It works well for that application. It is somewhat more difficult to to use than standard auto wax though. When applying it to the boat, I use a buffer pad on the grinder to put it on and the same to buff it out. Doing it by hand, not only takes way too long, it is also an overwhelming task.

For the car I just use Meguiar's yellow wax. It lasts well in our high salt environment. It's easy to put on, and shins up as well as any.
