OK Who has an SC and dogs?

So I'm buying the New E on the 24th or 5th (cash fro clunkers) And am wondering how hard Dog hair is to clean off the seats and carpet in an SC? Should I not even look at an SC and go for the EX with dogs. Have 2 Blue Heelers, A little Westie (she is the boss) and an older Australian Shepherd. Anyway I'm hoping to learn from those who have tried this!

Thanks All!!
This place is great!:D

I have a 1/2 rot 1/2 bloodhound with short bristly hair, I have no problems with getting the hair up, but honestly, I would save some money and go with an EX anyways, you can go AWD that way and it would be a easy conversion to take a EX to SC on the 09' models, it shares the same headlights unlike the 07-08. Dont get me wrong, I love my SC, but if I could do it over again, I would have gotten a AWD EX, better resail value for some reason everywhere I look.
i have 2 b0xErs and have no problem cleaning their hair out of my SC. for me, i chose the SC because it was more pleasing to my eye! i did test drive an 09 EX and loved.loved.loved the flooring, however i don't think it makes that big of a difference! good luck and welcome!
if you like the SC, get the SC and then just get the elemmat floor kit that covers up the carpet :)

i have/had the same problem, but i decided i really like the styling/look of the SC.

the rest i can handle w/ some rubber floor covers and towel over the seats :D

that is my plan at least...and i have a dog that sheds like crazy!!!!

in this case, i would say what do the weather conditions like throughout the year. if there are long months of heavy snow, hills etc, then a AWD model is probably the better choice.

in my current state, i've survived cincinnati winters w/ FWD for the last 13 years...awd, while nice, its not a deal breaker. plus you get slightly better gas mileage.

oregon, might be a different story

ps: welcome aboard :)

I have a SC and a Basset that sheds his entire coat weekly. And he is mostly white! I got an Elemmat for the rear and it keeps most of the hair from clinging to the carpeting. Only around the corners and chair holes. I wouldn't own an Element if it wasn't the SC. People with non-SC models (prior to 09) still need something to cover the slippery plastic flooring anyway. Personally, not a fan of the new E, very generic.
My only complaint is how easily the tailgate scratches.

Basset Box,

So you are saying that the 09 flooring is not as slick so 09 owners don't need this?

How about the seats? Does the hair stick to the seats or are they easy to clean like the ones in the EX?

"a Basset that sheds his entire coat weekly":lol::lol: That's funny!

My local dealer has a 2008 BRAND NEW SC With a rear Spoiler and splash guards in NBP Auto he says he will make me a $5,000 off msrp deal on. and a new 09 AWD auto would only be about 2k off. So the 08 is a lot better deal but I give up AWD and color choice + some say trade value down the road is not as good on an SC but I'm not worried much about that...It's allot more about being able to keep the dog hair off the seats. My Heelers are light Grey, and shed almost as much as your basset:D So a black interior that is hard to clean I don't want at any price.....But if they are close to equal I'm all for saving $$$$$$$$$$ and the SC is nicer looking (to me).

Thanks!

OTG,
I see you have an SC and an EX. Does the dog hair stick to the seats on the SC very bad? The EX seats are supposed to be "easy clean" What about the ones in the SC? Do you really notice much difference?

Thanks:)

I don't know anything about the newer seats and flooring. I think they ditched the plastic floor because I thought I saw some people complaining about it on here, I don't know though. The SC seats in mine are a type of fabric that doesn't hold hair. I think some of the other trims have a more durable fabric. But the black carpeted area definitely bonds well with the hooks in the basset hair. It must be some sort of magnetic bond, very hard to separate. I just deal with it and if it gets on my nerves, I do a good interior detail. That reminds me, it's time for one! Good luck.
