I was in a little fender bender the other day (not my fault). I got a repair estimate from an auto body shop yesterday. When he looked the info up on the computer he said that it allowed for paint time because the plastic panels must not come the dark gray color and have to be painted. He's not sure because he has never worked on an E before , but that's what the computer said. Does this sound right?
I just figured that's how they would come. This shop only uses genuine parts from the manufacturer.

isn't there supposed to be some sort of paint on the EX's? Maybe a clearcoat?
I thought I remembered reading that somewhere...

While we'd expect a clear coat on PAINTED surfaces, there certainly are no surface finishes placed on the STOCK plastic fender panels (some SoCal dealers are doing some local mods). Otherwise these panels wouldn't be nearly so prone to scratches... :|
