Questions: 1. Does the overhead compartment detach from the headliner, 2. How much space is behind the overhead bin and the mirror assembly?

If #1 is yes, any pics showing how to remove?

#1 - Yes it can be removed. I don't have any pictures handy but you just have to pop out the two map light lenses and remove the bolt that's behind each one. The bin will then drop out of the headliner. I don't remember but I believe you have to slide it toward the front or back to release a couple tabs. Go slow and you'll get it out no problem.

#2 - There is a fair amount of space back there. Not sure what you thought you might want to put there but certainly enough room to hide some small electronics, cookies, small rocks or even your pet rat. Take the bin down and look for yourself. There is a metal plate in there as well but it's easily cut out with a dremel.

Thanks, CoffeeDragon.

I think this forum is going to cost me some serious $$$$. :). In fact, it already has....

I am going to put a small CB radio in it (I travel with my job and despite phones and radio, it is occasionally helpful to have one in the E when traffic backs up on the Interstate), but I don't want the CB radio to be seen.

Anyway, I'll try to post some pictures of the end result if it turns out good. Otherwise......

Thanks for bearing with a newbie. I have trekked up and down the forum and found more things than I can afford to do that I would like to, but I hadn't seen this one addressed.

I have looked thru the various CB threads, done a search on them, but I couldn't come up with one that had put it in the top hatch. I do appreciate what you gents and ladies have done here....

Sure, with enough dollars and hours. You'll need the following (all prices are list):

83251-SCV-A00 Bracket, roof console $66.35
83255-SCV-A01ZA (gray) or 83255-SCV-A01ZB (titanium) Console, roof $59.75
2x 93401-05014-08 Bolt-washer (5X14) $0.73
90662-SB2-003 Grommet, screw (5mm) $0.45
2x 90148-S6A-003 Bolt, ground (5X14) $1.15
2x 93904-45220 Screw, tapping (5X12) $0.47
34403-S5A-013ZA [map light] Base $34
34401-S5A-003 Lens (L) $2.70
34402-S5A-003 Lens (R) $2.77
2x 34253-671-003 or 04110-SWA-305 Bulb $3.60

It looks like you'll have to remove the headliner, so figure on breaking some clips:
2x 90662-SCV-A01 Fastener, roof lining $3.12
plus maybe some other clips for lower garnish that must be removed before the headliner.

Also add a service manual and a panel removal tool so you can remove the headliner without damaging it.

Or find a junkyard donor!

How to Remove Roof Console 2010 EX

Eh, maybe this helps a little:

Deacon, there are threads on CB and ham installations (feel free to resurrect one), but for this location, look for discussions of drop-down screens for multimedia players over in Mobile Electronics.
Sorry for the newbie question here. Just procured a 2010 EX manual. Very sweet! I need to add constant-powered cigarette ports to the front of the roof console above the rearview mirror. I read the thread about removing the map lights before the bolts securing the console. But how do I pop out the map lights? Thanks, -Biggs in Albany

Congrats on your purchase. You need to update your profile to reflect what
you really own. And congrats on getting a super rare MT 2010!!!! Not very
many made it out of the factory in 2010!!!

Didn't want to start a new thread but wanted to see if this is the part number for the roof console for an SC? I tried popping the door off and ripped it out and would like to replace it. Might see if I can find a scrapped E if they are all the same on our vehicles. Does the door come with this too?
