I think it is just a personal preference. I went with the EX because I liked the way it looked a little better than the SC version. Don't get me wrong, the SC is still a pretty machine!

I think it doesn't have anything to do with resale value. At least for me it doesn't. I chose the SC because I liked the styling better and four-wheel drive isn't needed where I live.

For me OEM installed rubber floor, no carpet, for easy cleaning with dogs, water-resistance FXC seating, & 4WD are the main reasons steering me toward EX instead of SC.

Coming from 4WD Toyota pickup & 4Runner for the past 20+, I actually prefer higher ground clearance & truck like look of EX than lower clearance hot-rod look of SC.

I guess it's just preference then. I know the SC comes with front and rear carpeting (front of passenger seating) but rubber mats should take care of that issue. I don't know if the seat fabric is as durable, water resistant, etc. in the SC as it is in the EX. One thing that drives me crazy in the EX is the lack of a console for storing leashes, collars, collapsible food and water bowls, water bottles, etc. I also like the idea of charging my phone inside the console instead of over the dash. I especially love the usb port in the dash. I don't need a cooler because I keep a travel refrigerator in the car which acts as my cooler if I need it. In the EX it makes a perfect console/arm rest. Fits perfectly between the seats with one arm rest up.

So, I guess what everyone is saying is, it's purely a matter of taste, though the EX is more conducive to dogs; no carpet to deal with. Sure wish they'd just moved the sun roof to the front instead of eliminating the whole thing.
