Gas cap would be the first thing I would try if it's not an OEM.
Maybe this will help:So what unit is the Evap Vent Valve? I haven't been able to find a single picture on the forum showing this that still works. I've seen people say its under the car, some say it's in the engine bay. No one mentioning part numbers.
The code basically means that when the vent valve is open, the ecm is not seeing a pressure/vacuum change.
Most times I see this code is due clogging of the fresh air inlet side of the vent valve.
Take a look there. Every time its a spider nest inside the tubing, blown out with shop air and lands on the floor. Dam little buggers!
Thanks, I will.Looks like 11 is the filter, and 31 is the inlet. so make sure those are clear/no restriction.
I will definitely check that as well. About to go under the Element right nowCheck the tube also#19.
Oh interesting. Cool. Didn't think I'd have that on my cluster. My s2000 doesn't have that, and I ended up getting a code which I diagnosed down to the gascap.Patrick, if it was the gas cap your odometer should scroll "check gas cap", at least on my 05' it did.
Check the tube also#19.
Indeed does sound a little beyond me.At this point you will need a scanner and evaporative emissions smoke machine. The scanner will close all valves and then pressurize the system with the smoke machine. Command the vent valve open and the pressure should drop.
So its probably a job for a professional.
Keep us posted with what you find.
I've never purchased one before. Are you referring to a specific one? Or do repair manuals often have many different authors? Should I be looking for a specific one like Haynes or maybe there's one published from Honda themselves?Patrickjamesyu, if you plan to keep doing maintenance on your car, a service manual is invaluable and will answer just about all questions.
okay, I'll further check for restrictions.Vent valves are normally open to vent the tank with the key off. Powering up the valve will close it. The code sets because it does not see the pressure/vacuum readings change. Maybe the valve sticks closed. But 99 out of 100 are restrictions. Good luck.
