Aside from the popping sound from the rear suspension covered in another topic.. I have problems with my front driver side wheel / suspension.

What prompted me to look was a rubbing sound when I turn left or hard right..

Can anyone tell me what this is, exactly.. . ?

I crawled up under the car this afternoon and turned the wheels left and right and I can't understand how it broke.. snowbank maybe? The other 3 are fine..

Anyone have $0.02?

You are looking at the stabilizer end link. Over time the grease in them drys up and the joint either just gets stiff and makes noise or in your case comes apart.
