Hello everyone,
We finally bought a new digital camera. I can take more pics of the E and whatever old and new mods.

I had to dremmel the hole to make it bigger in order to get the bolts in.
I just spray painted it afterwards to protect it from rust or corrosion.

Here's a pic of our 2" cargo carrier. It came in very handy again this past weekend.

Exactly what I want.......your Element is even the same color as mine.
The looks like it fits great and I have the same basket you do as well.
It's like looking at my own vehicle.

What's the difference in use between the 2" and the 1 7/8" hitches?
Meaning, what is each used for?

You're confusing 2 sizes, receiver hitches come in 2" and 1 1/4" drawbar models, while the actual balls can be 1 7/8", 2", and more sizes. Most accessories like the rack shown are for 2" receivers. For general light towing a 1 1/4" hitch works just fine, but I would be more comfortable with a 2" because they are stronger overall.

That hitch looks great, very nice fit and doesn't hang down much at all.

I'm really happy with this hitch. I'm already working on making a cover for it.

I don't plan on towing real heavy stuff with the E. If I need to pull anything really heavy, we have the expedtion for that. It can tow 8000 lbs.

The hitch looks great. Who is the manutacturer and did it come with the receiver? Did you purchase it locally or mail order?
Thanks

I wish I had waited for the 2" hitch. The 1 1/4" hitch doesn't allow you to use the extra accessories. I also think my bike rack bounces more in the smaller hitch.

I orderd my 2" hitch from Sportsrack.com. They are giving out a 15% discount to the members of this forum.

I think I paid like $143 including the shipping. I know it was under $150.
