Hey everyone,

This is my first post on here, but I'm in a pickle. I bought a mirror mount for my Beltronics pro 500. Now the issue I'm having is the stem of the rear view mirror. It isn't circular it's almost squared with rounded edges. I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. Does anyone have a solution to this? I had the Rogue Rear View mount and I've looked at Blendmount.com but of course they have no mounts specially made for E's. I need help. I paid $364 for the pro 500 and $90 for the hardwire run to the mirror. I'll spend almost any amount on a mount. Thanks for your help in advance.

Mikeyy...I am not sure what rear view mirror is on the 2008, but if its the same as 2009, here's what I did. I have the 2009 EX Element and the rear view mirror stem looks like a horn or cornucopia. I emailed Blendmount and they told me flat out its not compatible. I searched the forum for rearview mirror mounts and I was going to buy a rear view mirror for an accord and make it fit by making an adapter. http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24166&highlight=rearview+mount

So, I went ahead and bought the Blendmount from Ebay which I got it cheaper for a circular stem and I being lazy, installed it to the current rear view mirror.
It worked. Now, its not perfectly horizontal b/c I had to mount it really high up on the stem b/c it gets thicker closer to the base. It is secure, but I think if I twisted it, it would slide down. I've had it on for 2 days and it still working.

I may still look for a replacement rear view mirror with a circular stem and make an adapter so it sits horizontal, but for now, its on there. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately I have already sent back the mirror mount because it was circular and would not work with my mirror's stem.

Yes, my mirror stem is shaped like a chili pepper or a horn, which ever you prefer to call it. I had a circular mount called the Rogue Rear View mount and I had some double sided tape, with some non slip grip like you would put in your silverware drawer and it held for quite some time maybe a week or so but it just ended up coming loose and falling down. What I ended up doing was using the big single suction cup Belpro included with my radar detector and stuck it up right near the mirror. It seems to be working very well so far.

Radar detector installed on rear view mirror

BlendMount BBE-2000 for Escort/Beltronic Radar Detectors is the mount I used for my 2009 Honda Element with a "chili pepper" like rear view mirror stem. I've had it on over a week and its still on pretty sturdy. I have a Escort radar with a directly wired into the Element. Here are some camera pics. :-(

^^Looks like you have it pointing a tad too high and that your alarm antenna may be blocking a small portion of the radar detectors antenna. Up high, below the tint line, centered and close to the windshield is usually the best position to mount a radar detector. That's why I never bothered trying to make a Blend mount work in my Element. I've used a few different mounts for my Beltronics RX65 and so far the best that I've found is Escorts newest mount the StickyCup, which is a vast improvement over their SuperCup mount. I can post some pics if you guys want to see what it looks like in an Element.

For those interested, here's a link to Escorts newest mount the StickyCup.
