Alright, need some help.

I don't have the energy nor time to go through each of the pages on this thread, not to mention those threads linked through this thread.

Basically the two of my A/C controls lights went out and I need to replace them. What bulbs will I need? Can I get them at an Advanced Auto Parts / Pep Boys / Auto Zone / etc.?

Also I was thinking about maybe adding a different color to them, can I get the very same bulbs at an auto parts supplier?

Need some help

Hi

Is there a "definitive" guide for changing the lights on clusters and HVAC? Or is this thread it?

I had a few other questions:

How Many LED's do I need for the Cluster?
Are they all supposed to be #74 size?

What is the easiest way to replace the lights in the HVAC with LEDs?

Thanks,

Pretty much this thread is it :D

Last time I checked, it was nine (9)

Um.... there was a DIY post somewhere on Car Domain. If I find it, I will post the link here for you.

You're Welcome

Hey Chubs- Can We Talk?

I Love The Blue Gauge Lights! I Was In A New Jetta Recently And Fell In Love W/ The Blue Dash Lights. What Do I Have To Do To Get The Gauges Blue. Also, Have Any Idea How To Change The Dome, Hatch And Map Lights To Led? I Have Drained The Battery A Few Times Leaving Them On And Was Thinking Leds Might Stay On All Night And Not Kill The Battery. Thanks- Rich:d

I posted my HVAC LED change a couple weeks ago.

The other bulbs you mentioned can be replaced with LED modules at sites like superlumination.com. I haven't found the perfect sizes myself, but a search on the forum should help.

Just a note

I too had the LEDs in the dash......result well I liked it at first. Then ....well the one over the temp gage went "DISCO" flashing then done like dinner. Then there was the same for the 60 in the speedo. I decided to go back to the regular bulbs. I left the ones in my od cause it maches the auto dimming mirro that I did. ( had to mach the numbers together )

I just want red :p Intensity of light will probably matter if/when I try to do my dome light. I'll need to put some more thought into what would be most effective for my needs. I'd also like to see more pictures from anyone who's done anything. :)

For the dome light, I picked up an LED piece from superlumination.com. I can't remember the bulb number, but the new LED piece fit right in. It's actually a circuit board with two contacts on each side (fits right into the original 'socket') and 6 wide angle LED's that are pretty bright. Even with blue, the interior is brightly illuminated at night and I dare say it is equal or brighter than the original bulb. It cost about 10 bucks, but it was definitely worth it. They offer it in various colors including red if you're looking to change your dome light.

Later tonight I'll snap an interior pic of my set up. Have blue for the front dome light, blue for the gauges/odometer, blue HVAC buttons and hyper-white for the HVAC faces.

My dome light from superlumination is the festoon 44mm super white 9-LED. It's a little too long but I did manage to jam it in there without any trouble. I don't think it's as bright as the stock dome bulb, but if I want bright I'll use my map lights. I left the rear dome light in place because I didn't find anything brighter and I want to be able to illuminate the cargo area as much as possible.

Also note that it is illegal to have red light emitted from the front or sides of your vehicle while it's being driven (I think someone has said you can be charged with impersonating a police officer??). So if you do change your dome light to red I suggest you just be careful not to turn it on while on the road.

You'd be surprised. The local highway patrol has been pulling out some strange vehicles recently. Most notably was a white mid-90's Volvo 960 Wagon. Imagine seeing this with full markings only on the sides. It's a 1/2 undercover cop car!

Point being, you never know. Besides, here's proof there is at least one element the 5-0 converted:
