I have a 2003 Honda EX with 111,000 miles. Recently when driving the radio and turned on, will on its own switch to the Aux mode fro the FM mode. Anyway to stop this from happening?

Other question: it is sitting on the end of its second set of tires. Currently has P215/70R-16 Yokohama Geolander HTS and while tread is still at around 4 to 5/32nds they are over 12 years old. Am considering replacing with 4 Hankook Kinergy ST same size. I am near retired and will put maybe 5k a year on the vehicle. Any feedback on these tires?

First of all, good for you for recognizing that tire aging can be a problem. (The Tire Rack says "Our experience has been that when properly stored and cared for, most street tires have a useful life in service of between six to ten years." There's more information here and here.)

The Kinergy ST is in Tire Rack's "standard touring all-season" category, primarily for cars. For the Element, I generally prefer tires from their "crossover/SUV touring all-season" category. When my current (crappy) all-seasons are ready for replacement, I plan on getting the Continental CrossContact LX25, which excels in user reviews in this category.

When I need tire advice, I call the experts at the Tire Rack, who know their tires. (And then I buy the tires there, since in addition to those experts they also have great prices, free shipping, etc. I have no association with the Tire Rack other than as a happy customer.)

You both were rude to one another. I had to delete one post due to inappropriate language. You both need to stop or I will shut down this thread. It’s not helpful and unnecessary when you both communicate on the forum like this. The forum should be a safe place for all.

I agree with AWD. Clean it or close it.

Sometimes cleaning grounds will help with the radio gremlin. Check the ground under your battery tray. It can become corroded from old battery acid and disintegrate in half. Old battery acid never stops corroding until it's physically removed.
