Just 2 weeks of Element ownership (2003) and I have a couple of ideas that would add to the utility of the Element:

1. Inside latch for the rear hatch. This one has been mentioned by a ton of people and hopefully has been added by now. Just seems obvious that a car that is designed for sleeping in would have an interior latch to open the back hatch. both latch and lock are needed.

2. Why not design the rear seats so that you can completely reverse them and have them facing backwards? Maybe this is not allowed by safety regulations but it could be a cool option for a drive-in movie, tailgating, or camping. It seems like it would only take some fairly simple adjustments to the design to make this work.

3. I would like some screen inserts that easily attach to the inside of the back windows and the moonroof without removing the moonroof.

thanks - I do appreciate your response. I have seen the things you referenced and I have looked at a number of mods for the interior latch but the reason I posted it here was because it seems like something that Honda should have obviously added. I'm considering different options to decide which interior latch to attempt myself.

Screens, too, I'm going to try to construct myself but really want something I can easily mount on the interior without removing the upper moonroof or anything else.

I just thought it would have been nice if Honda had considered these items.
