I'm trying out this new mechanic that was recommended by my old one (services different makes only) and I noticed that he doesn't really give a break on labour, but I'm now wondering after the last $2500 bill if he charges book rates or actual. The Element is getting new rear struts and sway bar links. How many hours should it take a shop to change these? I've been quoted four. Is this reasonable?

I just had KYB GR-2 rear struts and SPC Camber Kit installed, I supplied the parts. $180 labor, $5 for a lower strut bolt that stripped out when being removed.

What's a good source to get the parts? My father-in-law will probably be able to install them for us. Cheapest I found in Canada was $30 each for the end links and $100 each for the struts
