I'm new to the forum but have searched for this subject without success. First, don't get me wrong, it's way quiet relative to anything else I have ever owned. My take is, and I'm sure I'm not the first, that it comes primarily from the uninsulated spare tire cover. I'm thinking some kind of foam or Dynamat could be used to lower the noise significantly. Just so I'm not reinventing the wheel...Has anyone else done this and have any advice for me? Thanks.

That Dynomat may be a real good idea back there - I will have to try that.

I'm gonna wrap my spare in an old outdoor blanket, and stuff the spare tire well with old beach towels. That should help a little on the noise, and they might come in handy some day.

I plan to put a layer of "great stuff" insulating foam into the cavities under the cover, then place a SteelSak trash bag over that (for the grey color), invert it and let it harden. This should allow the foam to shape itself to the spare tire without sticking to anything. This should provide a stiffer, quieter piece. The current models are shipping with 5 grey foam blocks of different thicknesses glued into some of the cavities, so someone at Honda must want to fix the problem. I assume you could wrap the spare and fill the entire empty space with foam if needed.
