Because Honda apparently no longer offers traditional body side molding to protect doors from dings (at least not in PMM color), I opted for the rocker panel trim moldings, which also are supposed to provide some protection from thoughtless neighbors in parking lots.
However, the rocker panel trim comes only in a silver color. I didn't realize that until I saw the trim installed on my vehicle. It is in sharp (and, to my eye, not very pleasing) contrast to the nice PMM body color.
The theory is that the silver color matches the trim around the front grille and on the back hatch. But I sure wish it matched the PMM body color. It would also be better if it were black like the rocker panels. The idea, for me, is to provide protection without being visually obvious -- but the silver color really makes it stand out against the PMM.
That said, it's my fault for not reading more closely the description in the dealer's accessory book. Although the catalog photo (on a PMM Element) makes it seem that the trim is body color, the text clearly says that the trim is silver. My bad.
My wife says that it won't bother me if I don't look at it. So I'm trying not to.
