I searched this forum to see if there was anything posted by our members but couldn't find anything. There were a few about RTT but not Tepui tents.

Anyone have this on their E and want to share their thoughts on it? I've provided a link below to their website. I'm thinking if the Ayer built for 2 at $820.

There's more about it at another car website but I wanted specific feedback from E owners.

Thanks,

I see nobody replied :( Because I, too, am looking at the Ayer. There's a strong distrust for RTTs in this forum, but I've also heard success stories. I really would like one but I don't want to ruin/repair any parts of my E.

After flitting from one type of camper to many (Ecamper, teardrop, [email protected], burro, casita, ecamper, Tepui, VW Eurovan camper,Ecamper) I finally decided on the Ecamper and scheduled my appointment for the 3 week in April.

I have the Tepui Kukenam tent. I had to upgrade my factory roof rack to a Yakima rack, but so far I am loving the tent. My wife and I are able to take it on and off the car by ourselves when we arnt using it, and store it in the garage. The tent has a real cool factor to it, and it has helped motivate us to get out there and explore more.

Here is a link to a few pics of the tent on my E.

I am contemplating on getting one, but main issue is the weight that the roof rack can handle. Based on research the tent I want is ~130 lbs, but weight limits of Thule and Yakima racks is between 150-165 lbs.

Then there's the debate about dynamic vs static weight and people's Element anchors breaking off due to bad welding..........

So love the tent, but so confused :(

Any advice on weight stuff is much appreciated!

I didn't read every post in those threads just now, but I didn't see any debate. Yes, you can carry a lot more weight for a static condition than a dynamic one before damaging a structure. Obviously having a heavy object come tearing off the roof vehicle at speed adds a safety risk to others as well. So you have to consider whether the rack and empty tent exceed the (very conservative) Honda weight limit while driving, then separately consider the total weight, including occupants, when the car is stationary. I'd be more concerned with dynamic load, since when you're sleeping on top of the car you're only pressing down on the welds, not trying to shear them off.

Thanks for the advice.... Now I'm thinking whether to get a Sylvan GO Camper..... or a Sylvan GO Trailer (or something similar) that I can place the Tepui Keukham Sky tent

Thanks for sharing these pictures. How many seasons have you used this setup? After reading a lot about the roof top tents on Elements, it seems the Magnolia style tents seem to be having more trouble with welds breaking. I have a Smittybilt roof top tent on a Jeep and am debating using it on the Element as well. It folds over the side, like the Tepui tent, and has a ladder to support part of the weight when in use. It is a lightweight tent at 130 pounds with the awning. It seems like this setup will not stress the mounts as much. I am hoping to hear long-term use success stories from this style tent.
