I installed a SC console in my EX-P last week, and installed a new stereo this week. One of my challenges was finding a hidden, yet convenient spot to hide my iPod, which I typically leave in the E 99% of the time. When I installed the SC console I noticed that the cupholder assembly is not as deep as the compartment in which it mounts. In other words, it seemed like there would be enough space under the cupholder to store something like an iPod. And, in fact there is:

As you can see, I ran the iPod cable from my headunit through the console and cut a hole in the bottom of this compartment for the cable. Plugged in the iPod and reinstalled the cupholder.

Fits back in with no rubbing on the iPod which is in a silicone case. No one would ever know it's there, unless one of you guys tells 'em.

Everyone may know of this spot already, but I hadn't seen mention, so there ya go.

Secret Spot

I use the cup holder every day for my coffee, so if I put my iPod in there, i'd be juggling the coffee on the road while changing my iPod. I ended up throwing all my loose change in there, especially since I don't like to leave money out when parked in "not so safe" areas. I'm not sure how much it holds, but I definitely dumped at least a coffee can full and there's still room to spare.

I would assume his new radio controls/charges the iPod, therefore he doesn't need to access it unless he is loading new music onto it.

Ding Ding Ding!!!

You are correct! My headunit completely controls my iPod, so I never have to touch it. I take it out of the E about once a week to sync it with iTunes for any new music we've purchased, and then stick it back in the E

I love the fact that I have XM and iPod full control through the headunit, and absolutely nothing is visible, it's all hidden away.
