I did a full audio upgrade on my 2005 EX AWD.

I previously had a JVC KW-NT30HD and the factory 7 speaker sound system. I had to replace the window regulator on my passenger door the other day and found that my speakers were all torn so I decided to tackle a full sound system upgrade.

Receiver:
Jensen CAR710W (paid $350 for a receiver that includes wireless Apple CarPlay)

For the tweeters and front door speakers I went with:
Skar Audio TX65C 6.5" 2-Way Elite Component Speaker

For the rear door speakers:
Skar Audio TX65 6.5" 2-Way Coaxial Speakers

The Sub:
Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 6.5" Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofer

The Amp:
Taramps TS 400X4

I ran all new speaker wiring throughout the vehicle and routed everything back to the factory amp location. The Tramps TS 400x4 amp is tiny and fits perfectly in the kick panel where the factory amp was located. I wired the left side speakers at 2ohms (component + rear door) to channel 1, and the right side at 2ohms (component + rear door) to channel 2. I wired the sub to 4ohms and bridged channels 3 & 4. I bought a 16oz bag of polyfill and used about 1/3 of the bag inside the factory sub enclosure (I really stuffed it).
The sound is so much better compared to factory. The small 6.5" Skar sub is really impressive. It hits some nice deep bass that even rattles my rear view mirror a bit.

What a big difference it makes upgrading an old factory system to new head unit and speakers all around. Will sound even better after the speakers break in a bit too

OP, on replacing the subwoofer, is this the same model you used? :

Trying to figure out if I need the 2 ohm or 4 ohm version. Crutchfield states that the "factory dual voice coil subwoofer, is a 6-3/4", 4-ohm (2 ohms per voice coil) ". 'would be great if you can chime in and confirm that. And any installation advice would be greatly appreciated
TIA.

Yes, that is the one I got the D2. I was running it on the factory amp for like a week, before I got around to doing this full overhaul.

@DANTHEMAN Curiously, when using the stock amp, did the Skar sound way better than the factory subwoofer?
I'm looking to upgrade, too.
I wouldn't say it was way better. I always found the stock sub/amp to be a nice compliment to the Element. I think I got bored fairly quickly and ended up going this route just a few weeks later: 10" Sub in DIY StealthBox

^^^ Thanks. Good to know.

So, I'll be keeping my factory sub for now - it still sounds tight and intact. All my door speakers looked just like yours with all the rubber surrounds torn out. Replaced them all with w/ JBL's.

That's an impressive creation you got there. That 10" likely rattles the interior. I love that deep bass feel.
