At our Spring Meet 2010, I overheard someone ask about the possibility of getting our local chapter to a racetrack. After a little research, a couple of e-mails, a few phone calls and confirmation from the Car Club Coordinator at the Toyota Speedway, I would like to announce:

The So Cal Chapter of the Element Owners Club
at the
TOYOTA SPEEDWAY @ Irwindale, CA
Saturday: October 2, 2010

I know this is months away, however, it is best to plan and mark your calendars early. This will be a great event :-D. Besides getting together with you all, the main feature of this event will be the So Cal Chapter EOC Parade Lap around the Track for the Opening Ceremonies. Basically, this is what we will be doing on Saturday, October 2, 2010:
· Pre-Meet and Assemble: 2:00 pm - Location TBD
· Arriving at the ToyotaSpeedway: 3:30 pm
· Parking/Assembling at Grandstand Area: 4:00 pm
· Mini Meet & Display at Grandstand Area: 4:00 pm – 6:15 pm
· Move to Staging Area / Parade Lap: 6:15 – 6:30 pm
· So Cal Chapter EOC / Parade Lap Around Track: 6:30 pm
· After Parade Lap - Back to Grandstand Area / Enjoy the Evening Event:
Women Only Demolition Derby - Breast Cancer Awareness Night
There is no charge for you and our participation. Please respond to the poll above so that I can gauge our commitment. While we routinely get about 20+ Elements at our Meets, I hope that we can get a large number of Elements to parade around the Track. I am hoping for 50 Elements . Please plan to show up, have a good time and share your love for your Element. You will not want to miss this.

Awesome! I've always wanted to drive the E around a track! :) Thx for planning/setting this up Jeff!
OK, so I am the first one to buy in. I just hope not to get wrapped around the axle between now and then...

Got temporary Wheels and Grill. By the meat I hope to be current...

Chief, this sounds like it would be right up your alley....

I've been dialed in since Jeff first presented the idea to me! ;-)

This sounds like fun but don't about know about driving a lap around the track.
Will we be required to wear helmets?
Hope not - Richelle won't want to get her hair all mussed up.

Gene...not to worry, it will be more of a ceremonial lap as a group, versus an individual 'hot lap', which I really would have enjoyed. ;-)

So tell Richelle she'll be fine and there won't be any helmets or mussed up hair involved. But there will be a hell of a lot of fun to be had by all. We really look forward to seeing all of the 'Camping Fools' there, as well as, other Element enthusiast. So hop in "Miss Ellie" and come on down! We're shooting for the type of turn out that we had at the Honda US Open of Surfing in 2008.

I'm sure all the local Camping Fools would be up for this.
To get that many Elements (40 +) to attend - it's an absolute must to get the women owners involved!

Push the "female aspect" of this meet - Breast Cancer Awareness Night and the Women Only Demolition Derby!

Hot dang!
This sounds like oodles of fun to me!

That's an EXCELLENT point, and we'll count on you to help us spread the WORD!!!

Heck - Breast Cancer Awareness is a noble cause and fine reason to celebrate this event. :cheerleader:

Then there's the Women Only Demolition Derby - La chikas smashing into one another with cars... geesh!

What more could you want?
After literally fighting for my life this past year, and being lucky enough to make it into remission, I completely support the cause. I can honestly tell you that chemotherapy and radiation are absolutely NO FUN!!! So, anytime we can give of our time, or participate in any way we can, it's a "WIN-WIN" situation for everybody!!! ;-)

I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys again, and hearing some tunes from that fantastic music library that you own. This is going to be great!!!

You are privileged and have the inside line and all of the 'under the radar' information...
I may have to try to attend this one, the chance of getting my E on the track would be awesome have plenty of time to plan.

Chris...as a member of "The Usual Suspects" you already know that you are always dialed in! ;-)

DC...It would be sooooooo "AWESOME" to see you again!!! You are DEFINITELY an auxillary member of "The Usual Suspects!!!"

Chief
Sooo looking forward to my first "E" meet

I am sooo going !! Been looking forward to a meet since I joined this back in May (just missed the meet in May by a week & a half) Just got my 2003 "E" SOP EX AWD back in April. Love this forum.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting more of my fellow E'ers. See ya there !
Okay, now this sounds great. Given our current schedule where I work, it's going to be hard to make it all the way down there from San Jose, but it's on my calendar.

For those of you who are worried about the parade lap, don't be! Driving on the track works the same way as driving anywhere else. They'll most certainly line everyone up someplace out of the way, and then when it's time they'll have a pace car lead everyone onto the track in a line, keeping speeds very reasonable.

Organizers, you should set some expectations.. I was a part of a parade lap at Laguna Seca with my company's car club (not in my rig), and one guy didn't get the memo. He passed a few cars on the front straight and then almost went off the track at turn 9! On a parade lap! What an idiot!

The track is not interested in what a magnificent driver you think you are.. They just want everyone to have a good, SAFE time.

May I suggest:

- No passing
- Keep up
- Have fun!

Hope to meet some of you there if I can get away from work!

Number one..."WELCOME to the EOC!!!" Secondly, we definitely look forward to meeting you and seeing you at this great event for a worthy cause!

Chief
Wow :-D. I started this thread last week and the response has been great. Thanks to all of you who are spreading the word and helping to promote this event, and also the advice. Lets see how many Elements we can get for this event.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS

I will continue to provide updates, so please check back from time to time. I hope that you will mark your calendars and make plans to attend. I am also looking at a few locations for our Pre-Meet and Assembly. I want to get as close to the Toyota Speedway as possible.

Mini question: Should an invitation be extended to our So Cal and NorCal Chapters of the ROC and CR-VOC?

As always, thanks in advance for your consideration and participation :).

Is it half of the '07 grill...? I can't quite see clearly what you did... It looks like that grill was modded to add another aftermarket lower grill to match... It's definitely unique...! Me likes...!

It'll sure protect the condenser and radiator well...
