I'm wondering if the folks that run this site, IN ANY WAY, sell out the email address' of it's members. I'm already getting Honda relevant spam and this is the only place I dropped a legit email addy. :evil:

Weird-- I havent received any. Assuming you bought an element, did your dealer take down your e-mail address?

Another possibility would be a bucket-scraping e-mail marketer going through our profiles to get e-mail addresses.

I'm just trying to throw out suggestions, as I'm pretty sure the owners of the site have no intention of selling e-mail lists.

Somebody sent me an extended warranty spam, but I am on three of these websites and two Honda websites. Can't narrow it down yet, I should have used different Email addresses for each.

I think it's the online car loan places and maybe 1st-Source. But I really noticed the emails after I got the financing quotes.

i get ~200 spam messages a day regardless so actually i wouldnt know if someone was targeting me for the honda :/

This is the only place I have given the name to. Im very meticulous about controlling spam.

Its probably someone spamming your profile, because i don't think T-mac would sell us out like that without telling us...would he? Hey Tom, got an answer? I particularly don't care because i have an address for all things non-email, i suggest you set up the same...

I got an idea, how about you set up a new address in your profile, and we'll spam it on the profile to see if thats what it is?

Sounds believable. If in the future you do decide to sell your email list, I hope you notify the membership before hand.

I have been a member since March....and the only junk mail I have received has been from Stone Age.....and I trace this back to when I was getting online price quotes on my E

All I can say is that this is the only site that I've used my work adress to register for, and all of a sudden I'm getting spam there. No one else at work is getting the volume of spam that I'm getting either.

Fortunately, your site lets the email address be modified, so I switched it to my AOL email address which is a valid email address, but which I have closed it to all incoming mail. Still didn't solve the problem, as I think the harvested email addresses went out in the vast world of freely available addresses available to spammers.

Oh, I wouldn't mind the car stuff, but I'm getting viagra, enlarge your male appendage and HGH spam (I'm female so this is relavent???), as well as mortgage info, prescription and consolidate debt spam.

I got a hotmail account for all E-related business (financing, etc.) and that's what I used to register on this site. I've not used the address for anything else.

And I am not getting spam on the account. I think I've had maybe one a week. (Compare that to the hundreds a week on my work and my regular home email accounts!)

If it makes you feel any better, I have an email addresses, I have not given out at all, it still get junk mail.

If and only if we ever use/sell/distrubte the email list of the members of this board, we will notify people 1st. There are no plans to do that and put our members thru spam hell

Plus you can always turn off your email on your profile so that no one can spam you...

Yeah.....not sure if turning off your email would be too effective if someone sold the list. But it's an idea.
