Looking for a CAI alternative while my E is under warranty, looking for input...

What improvement would result if you put a K&N air filter in the stock air box with a large diameter pipe (3-4") leading to the current air intake location? K&N claims 2-3% or 4-6hp from the filter, wondering if a larger intake pipe woud feed more air to the K&N for even more hp.

I guess if the restriction is located between the air box and the engine it may not do jack.

Also thinking a 2.5" pipe from the CC to a new muffler, looking for experiences from current users, few I'm aware of below:

BORLA: Turbo XS muffler
CAT BACK: Impulse (picture below)

FYI, just saw a picture of an E with a 3" duct right off the air box to a hole cut just above the radiator, guy said he thinks he got 15hp with a K&N filter, the 3" duct and by removing his muffler and running with just the stock resonator...

Have had the K&N installed two weeks, mileage is about the same 22mpg, sounds great so I'm likely putting my foot into it more then when I was in silent running mode.

I noticed honda put an extra piece of plastic on the end of the stock air system which i took off, seems like an extra bend does not do anybody any good... can hear the intake even more (good thing), have not experiemented with adding a home made cold air intake but thinking about it.
