Hello - I am considering having all the windows on my 08 element tinted.

I am sort of ignorant to tinting so I was hoping I could get a few answers from this group before I go to a shop.

The law in Maryland states that any tinting must allow 35% of light through. Yet, I read somewhere that someone had the factory tint on their element measured at 22%. That says to me that the FACTORY tint is illegal in my state? Does that further mean that, if I stayed legal, I can't really go darker than what the factory already put on the vehicle?

Md. law is 35% for the front side windows. That is what I have and think that is just right for all around use. I tried the same as the back windows and at night it was just to dark. Plus the Man can get you for to dark of a tint and that's just a pain. I paid 90.00 for the fronts and an eyebrow across the top of the windshield.

Is is true that the factory tint is "22%"? And thus darker than the legal 35%

What ever the factory put on is legal in all states, it's the fronts that very from state to state. Drew

In Maryland any windows behind the driver on an SUV can be as dark as you like.
