we’ve got a 97 Honda civic coupe that we loaned to a friend. I think they took a big drop to the thrift store and had to slam the trunk shut. Now the trunk is having a hard time closing and there is a big gap.
I’ve tried adjusting the rubbber bumpers with no success.

Looks like the trunk hinges are bent.

Open the trunk, then push down on the forward corner above the hinge while holding the trunk open. Had to do this to one of my old Accords.
