My wife is the only one I have heard making ugly comments or calling it a hearse. Good thing is that she won't ask to borrow it. But did she complain this afternoon when she flipped all the seats back and slept?

She also made a comment about the cone shaped covers over the gauges. Asked why didn't I go ahead and paint them pink and put a tassel on them. Grankly I never noticed them until she mentioned it.

The UGLY comments from strangers, directly to an owner, are from people that like to cause pain in other's lives.

There is absolutely no reason for someone (a stranger) to make a comment that would hurt or offend someone. If you like it - say so. If you don't move on with your trap shut.

I would never tell a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger that I think the car you just bought is ugly. I would mention little positives I could see about the vehicle.

If I had the answer to the WIFE thing, I'd be a very rich man.

I've heard them all too...Even Who owns the Blue School Bus?

But, all the people I've show the E to...thier first response is...Man that Funky lookin! and then after showing them the doors, and the seats....just everything...I've only gotten Wow's, "That's Pretty darn Spiffy" (yes, someone actually said that)

And i have to agree...The main reason people are trying to knock it, is because they are upset deep down because they dont own one too.....

Hmmmm and.....I had no clue about the gages my self, why is women who always point them out?!?

[quote:0f6e196766="Badger"]One of my buddies told me it looks like a mail truck. Now all my co-workers are calling it the mail truck, too.

I can handle it so far, but if they start calling me "mailman"...[/quote:0f6e196766]

Might be a good nickname, if you always deliver...or go through rain and sleet and snow...

Well, I've been driving a yellow Saturn coupe for three years... I've had people shout everything from "banana" to "***" at me while driving it. I think I can take whatever people want to dish out. Besides, how am I going to hear them over my 270-watts of thumping joy?

:D

Some possible replies to the comment, "Your car is ugly":

"Everything ugly needs a friend, have you found one yet?"
"Oh, yeah... Well, what do you drive?" Regardless of the answer, chuckle and walk away.
"Some people have style and class, others are just pigs... (sniff, sniff) Is that bacon I smell?"
"So is your face. But unlike you, I can get another car."
"Now I know how your mother felt when she took you out in public."

Anybody else have any comebacks?

Badger,

Don't let it bother you. I don't want to drive what everyone else drives.... Act like you enjoy it, and it'll go away OR you may grow to like it.

I think part of the charm is that it looks like a old panel truck. Believe me, you don't want to drive a Gold Taurus or Accord. I couldn't find my Gold Sedan rental due to the (seemingly) hundreds in the mall parking lot.

I don't think there's a better vehicle made for 19 or 20 Grand...
