Upgraded from old struts to new coilovers

Finally pulled the trigger on installing some aftermarket coilovers as my suspension has been shot for sometime. I decided to go with Teins St basis Z. I had a headache pulling apart the old struts n shocks for the top pieces. I ended up purchasing a 3rd party set of assemblies for my front struts. In a week or so my adjustable rear control arms will arrive and I will be installing those too. Currently dropped about 1.5inches. maybe drop it more after I drive on it for a week.

Nice....I will need to do this for my SC eventually since I can't find OEM anywhere. The 1.5" drop....are you able to gain that back or is that the max travel of the coil? I like my ground clearance as-is for going MTB and skiing. Also, please keep updates coming on your progress.

Also interested in how high you can adjust the Teins.
Have a new set still in a box...just waiting for my KYBs to fail :p

Maybe it's because this is an SC and the manual was refering to other elements as theyre higher at stock height. I went from 4cm or so as the manual said to 3.5cm and the front feels better but still a little stiff. After this weekend I'll probably adjust the height 3.25 or 3 but will wait for my control arms to come in
When you mention 4cm or 3cm, your talkin preload on the spring?
With less preload, I believe your slightly lowering and softening the suspension.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm talking preload. correct, in order to soften it, i have to lower it. the Street basis Z dont have a dampener. the front will prob be lowered to 3.25cm instead of 3.5 as its still abit tight. its getting pretty low but no issue with curbs n things yet. i think the SC is going to sit lower than an EX with Teins. once i finish replacing the rest of the pieces to the suspension ill do as low as i can to still *squeeze a jack under it.
