Ok so I am trying to think of a good place to install an amp to run the stock Subwoofer I am going to install in my 07 LX. I saw a thread where someone put the amp inside the front seat. At first I thought that it would not get any circulation but the original poster said it was fine and did not have any overheating problems. link to original thread

I was still a little worried and this got me thinking about the little floor vents that sit under each front seat. If you were to take a small hose and run it out of one of the vents and inside the seat area where the amp would be installed it should blow cool air directly over the amp allowing for nice airflow over the amp. Now I should say that I live in Florida and will be using AC about 99% of the time and not heat. But even if I was to turn the heat on I would turn it to defrost and not use the floor vent.

I would love to get some thoughts on this idea. I think it might be crazy but it also might work well. I use my element for biking a lot and have sand on the floor a lot of the time. The idea of having sand, dirt, and water sloshing over the amp does not appeal to me. That is why I am looking for a good place that is out of the way to mount the amp.

I had a setup similar to this. I had the amp mounted under the passenger seat, I had a hole in the bottom cover of the amp, and a corresponding hole in the top of the floor vent. It worked pretty good, just kept the fan on low all the time. You really don't need the a/c on, any airflow will do. I'm a biker too, so space in the back for gear and bikes takes priority.

was your amp small enough to not be completely covered by the seat? I have measured out several amps and I could get some that are skinny enough to be covered most of the time but when my wife drives the seat is pulled way up. I just dont see a lot of space under the seat and that is why I was looking for different places to mount it. I also don't like the amp on the floor where all the dirt and sand is. I dont always clean out my car after every ride but there is always new sand brought in after every ride.

I like how hidden it would be mounted inside the seat but I am just not sure. Here in Florida I run the A/C 24/7 so that is not a problem. I am seriously considering this but don't want to ruin an amp.
