I went to Honda dealer here in Port Angeles Wa. to get quote for valve adjustment and they came up with $362 and some change. I think I could do it because my dad is a t.v. repairman and has an awesome set of tools:giggle: but in reality my garage is full of stuff and NOT going to do it in driveway. I seen a lot of quotes on here in the $200 - $250 range but that might have been pre pandemic. Has anyone got it done recently? What was your cost and what part of the country? The other thought is if it ain't broke don't fix it. I bought my E 8 years ago with 102,000+ miles and it now is pushing 180.000 miles and runs like the day I bought it. So the other question has anyone had a bad experience with a valve adjustment - like it runs like crap after adjustment? Power is great, mileage is in the 22 - 24 mpg range, makes no unusual noises. Friend of mine had an E that she ran almost 300,000 miles before she got rid of it and never did a thing to the engine.

Find a mechanic you can trust to quote that job. You will usually find a better price at an independent garage.

If your friend never had a valve adjustment, she is lucky to have not burned a valve.

$362 is a fair price. About what you would pay here in the Denver area.

I got mine done last in the Fall of 2020 at Rising Sun in Bellingham, WA and I think it was about $150, very reasonable at the time. I wouldn't be surprised if prices have changed since then but I doubt it's doubled. Regardless I think if you look around a bit outside of the dealership at reputable independent mechanics or a Japanese specialty auto shop in the area you could likely find a better price. My closest dealer in Kitsap definitely jacks up prices and I've noticed them trying to charge over MSRP when I inquire to buy parts so i've started to avoid them as much as I can unless I need something specific fast.
