Does anyone know what needs to be done to make the 12v plug-ins to stay on all the time. This is so annoying. I am not afraid as some that my car battery will run dead if I leave something plugged in. I have left stuff plugged into my 99 cougar for days and never had a problem. I hope someone comes up with a way to either rewire or change this option. Any ideas would help!

This is what I had to do for mine to run a cooler/mp3 player and power inverter. I did not modify the existing one but ran a new wire.

I wanted to power my cell phone for charging overnight. I thought I could back feed 12V to the outlet. I removed the fuse for the front outlet and cut it apart. Soldered an inline fuse to it and plugged that into the fog light spade. The other end went into the lower terminal where the fuse came out of. It did power the outlet but, I could hear a relay come on. I left it for the day because Had to go out. Later on I measured the current drain. It looked like 130 ma. Without the phone it was 100 ma.

I decided to put a new outlet in. A trip to Radio Shack and I installed the new outlet just to the left of the glove box and low on that empty area. Wired the fuse that came with it to the fog light spade. That should do fine.

Do the wires from the outlets go directly to the fuse block, or through a relay before getting there? Might it be possible to intercept them before they get to the switched fuse block, and rewire them to a hot wire or the fog lite spade? Which wires are they?

I, too, want my outlets on all the time.
