I am interested in a ex awd automatic E from a dealer who quotes me 16,750 including dock fee because it had been a minor flood car (water barely touched the floor boards). I checked the vin number through a local dealer and it still has the full warrenty (36/36).

my quetion is, when i take it in for servicing or what ever, do i need warrenty paperwork or do they just run the vin?

also does this sound like a good deal? it sure does to me.

That price for an AWD automatic EX version sounds great, however I would be leary what damage the water did to the motor, transmission, ball joints, cv joints, brakes, etc, etc. These things are not meant to be sumerged in water - while it is still in a warranty, you may just be buying a problems ahead and be getting to know your dealer more than you want to in future visits. Good deal, but...

Although I would certainly be leary of purchasing either a hail damaged unit or a flooded vehicle, if the vehicle is warrantied through Honda it would help ease my mind. You just need to clarify that it is still warrantied with Honda and not just some aftermarket warranty that the dealership is providing. These warranties can be extremely limited. Also, don't forget that just because a vehicle is under warranty, does not necessarily mean that everything is covered no matter what the cause. For example, it this were your personal vehicle that you purchased new and you went out and submerged it in water and caused damage to it, Honda could easily consider this as "customer abuse". This would be something that could go either way and turn into an insurance issue, which is also something you should inquire about. Will your insurance company insure this vehicle the same as a new vehicle? When you go to sell this vehicle will you lose a substantial amount due to it being a "flooded vehicle"? Disclosure in the state of Texas is pretty severe and there are certainly penalties for not doing so, whether it is an individual or dealership. Just some things to keep in mind.

Personally, I would spend the extra $2000 or so to get a brand new one and sleep well at night.
