Okay, my first post...

I am buying a 2WD EX automatic in less than 2 weeks. i have yet to decide what color I want. When I first started "shopping" for an Element, I thought I wanted an Eternal Blue Pearl. The first two I saw in person were the Nighthawk Black and Sunset Orange. I didn't fall in love with either. Then I saw both the EBP and Satin Silver at the 2nd dealership. That is when I first drove the EBP and really didn't like the way the interior blue accent didn't match at all with the exterior. I then got to see the Galapagos Green at yet another dealership. I like how the interior and exterior accent colors went really well with eachother. Finally, last week, I went and saw/test drove a Shoreline Mist. I had always thought this one was the most "classy" looking color.

My question is about resale value, insurance, and depreciation on car colors.
I was told any green vehicles have lower resale, etc.

PLEASE HELP!

Hi!
Buy the colour, YOU like!
Years ago, green for a vehicle, was considered bad luck!
I don't think that is much of an issue anymore.
Or are you supersticious! :|
Silver is a strange colour, (excuse the "u" I'm Canadian)
It can really make many styles of vehicles stand out and yet
look pretty mundaine on others!
Some people are true Blue when it comes to cars,
and everything else, and the EPB is a great one.
SOP (my choice) is a colour either you love or you don't!
I guess black is a safe bet for best resale value, if you look after it!

thanks for your input

not really superstitious, just some people had told me not to get green (including a salesperson)

i figured silver was a little too trendy for me

I think Shoreline Mist is what I will get...but i still have 13 days to change my mind i guess.

I got an EBP EX 5spd. I really love the color becuase it reminds me of the sea. However, it does show our Okie red dirt pretty badly. I have seen one SLM and thought it was stunning and very classy. My personal opinion is that if you want a subdued color you can live with a long time and is easy to care for, go with SLM. Good luck!

It's your car to drive for however many years you plan to keep it. I would choose the color that you truly like the best, rather than concentrating on selling it one day. By the time you sell it a few years down the line, car color trends will have changed totally, and you can't predict what would really be the best selling color then.

The Shoreline Mist is a pretty color, and it's pretty on this car. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Isn't it odd how some colors look good on one car and totally wrong on another?

I would never own a black car, I ruled out silver because that's the color of car I have now, I like, but am not crazy about, the blue, I like the Shoreline mist but it's just not me.

I personally wish they had made a deep, rich, red metallic, for this car. I think it would be scrumptious.

It was down to Galapagos Green or Sunset Orange Pearl.

Extremely tough decision for me.

I do like the interior better on the Galapagos Green but oh I just love that Orange. It's so bold and fabulous and ....Hellcatty!

Right now, I'm thinking I'll order the SOP. Subject to change until the moment I sign papers, but if I had any change of heart at all, it's be for the GG.

The element is really weird when it comes to colors. First of all, you have to see it in person, you can't rely on the photos in the brochure or on the web. For instance, I had written off SOP because it just looked too bright and in your face in photos, but then I saw one for the first time on the highway the other day and it looked incredible - It was late afternoon and the way the sun hit it it looked muted and dignified. Also I really liked how Satin Silver Metalic looks in photos, but in person the contrast between the paint and the composite panels makes the E look too much like on of those Nissan Frontier toy trucks with a camper top. I had concluded the same about SMM but then I saw one on the dealer lot (again, late afternoon sun) and it looked really good. I don't think I've actually seen a black one or a GG, and EBP looks really good as long as the vehicle is clean (EBP is my personal choice (if my dealer can find me one in an EX), but just a thin layer of dirt makes it look pretty grimy. All in all, each color will appeal to different people differently - you just have to see it in different light levels and at different times of day to really get a feel for how it will look.

It takes a little more time to keep clean, but it looks so nice. Its like a mirror.

I went with the silver. I have always had great luck with silver color in the nasty New England weather. Never looks too dirty, and I like the way it makes the Element look. It reminds me of a real worker utiltity vehicle. Plus silver never shows the scratches like darker colors. I also think the Shoreline Mist also has many of the same attributes as the silver.

I love my SOP...but it's not for anyone who doesn't want to be noticed. :)

I've had it only a week, but I'm very pleased with my decision. I agree that you can't go by the pictures. I had never considered SOP till I saw one in person, and then I wanted nothing else. The color changes with the time of day and angle of the sun. Lovely!

Gotta be Galapagos Green! My second choice is Sunset Orange, but I like the subtler contrast of the green.

The wife likes the orange... maybe it's a guy thing.

EBP was very nice, but that deal fell through
NBP was my secret first choice, and that's what I got (my old Ford was Satin Black, so I'm happy)
SOP, GG and SLM are all nice, but then I've got a DX!
Silver seems the weakest choice; I avoided this for all the reasons above. The lady in the NE has a good argument, I'm in GA, tho.
I'm looking forward to some new colors:

Clearcoat (no pigment)...to heck with the blemishes <or> Chrome (ooohhh) or Satin Nickel
Candy Apple Red

<or maybe even>

Eggplant
Canary Yellow

I'd be curious as to sales figures by color...I wonder if that data's available...as well as by config (2DXA, 2DXM, 4DXA, 4DXM, 2EXA, etc)

I am a bit out of the demographic profile...37 and Shoreline Mist seemed to be the less "hip" of the color choices. I really like the interior. Not too in your face.

Color is always a matter of taste. They all look great!

Color choice depends on your taste but for me, 3 colors were immediately eliminated. They were blue, green and silver. Why? Because they put ugly colors on the interior. Ugly blue in the silver and blue and a very ugly green in the GG. Now, please don't jump on me, I said it is a matter of taste. The black, SOP and SMM all have the more elegant black/gray interior. The black exterior shows dirt too much so the decision comes down to SOP and SMM. Take SOP if you want sporty or SMM if you want classy. Seems like an easy choice to me.

UGH!!

So a friend asked me again today what color I was getting. And I still pretty much in love with the Shoreline Mist, however, I don't want to wait (even a few days) for one. I am buying this coming Thursday night.

Originally my first choice was EBP, but that interior makes me cringe. My 2nd choice was GGM, but still had concerns.

I know I don't want NBP or SSM....No way.

I keep thinking the SOP might work for me. This is not an easy decision, that's for sure.

I wish there were red or even yellow...might have had a more difficultt time with those though.

Shoreline Mist? Sunset Orange? Galapagos Green?
I guess I will just have to see what they've got for me thursday night.

Truly is is a matter of taste. We bought EBP and I love the interior! I think the blue on the dash sets the car apart. Not like every other car out there that is black, gray, or beige.
