There's a clean low mileage Element posted for sale near me but there are a bunch of weird "rivets" along the plastic housing for the gear shift and climate controls. Anyone know what would be the purpose of doing this? Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to contact the seller directly and get better pictures and/or ask them..

They probably couldn’t figure out how to remove the trim panel and ripped it off, breaking the original attachment points, and their solution was to river it back in place as opposed to finding a new piece. Just a guess though.

Maybe they just had accessories mounted there. Radio stuff? CB, scanner, etc...

Thanks for the guesses, I was thinking maybe it meant the car had been through some serious repair work. No carfax provided.
